Cybersecurity Advisory & Incident Response

Most boards find out how good their security really is during an incident, when it's too late to fix it cheaply. Ahmadeus advises boards and executive teams on cyber risk and runs the security programs behind that advice, so what we tell a board reflects systems we secure every day.

Our executive cybersecurity session, built around a live breach exercise, was selected by the New York State Society of CPAs for continuing professional education. View the NYSSCPA program →

When it's done, leadership can say:

  • We know which systems, vendors and people an attacker would go after first, and what we've done about each.

  • Our controls are measured against the standard regulators, auditors and insurers actually apply.

  • The board gets a regular, plain-language view of cyber risk and knows which answers to push back on.

  • No payment, access or data release can be approved on the strength of a convincing voice or video alone.

  • If we're breached, we have a tested response and a record that shows we acted responsibly.

Why boards are being asked now

SEC disclosure rules, NYDFS Part 500, state privacy laws and cyber insurers now expect boards to show how they oversee cyber risk, not just that they discussed it. We give directors an independent view of where the organization stands, a basis for challenging what they're told, and documentation that holds up with auditors, regulators and, if it comes to that, opposing counsel.

How we help

Each of these can be engaged on its own. Most clients start with a leadership session or an assessment.

Leadership session and tabletop exercise. A closed working session with the board or executive team. We cover the threats that matter to your business, the liability that now falls on directors and officers, and how to test what management tells you. It ends with a breach scenario played out in real time, and you receive written findings on where your decisions held up, where they didn't, and what to fix first.

Independent assessment. A thorough review of your security, controls and third-party exposure, held to the standard regulators, auditors and insurers apply. You get a prioritized account of where you stand and what it would take to close the gaps. An assessment comes with no obligation to engage us further, and we disclose any partner arrangement before any work begins.

Ongoing advisory. A standing relationship with the board, audit committee or executive team: oversight, reporting, the right questions for your security leadership, and decisions as they come up.

Build and operate. Security architecture, identity and access, monitoring, backup and recovery, and day-to-day security operations, run by our own team or by specialists working under our direction. See Engineering & Operations.

When an incident happens

We lead the technical response, establish what happened and how, and support the decisions leadership, counsel and insurers have to make under pressure. Afterwards we direct the cleanup and prepare the records regulators and insurers will ask for.

AI-enabled impersonation

Attackers now use AI to impersonate executives by voice, video and email, aiming at the people who approve payments, grant access and release information. We find where your approval processes depend on trust that can now be faked, and help leadership redesign them before that trust is tested.
